From Books to Films

Two of the books I listed in my top ten for 2010, The Help by Kathryn Stockett and One Day by David Nicholls are soon to be released as films. I've just come across their posters on the web. I love the poster of The Help, don't you? I can't wait to see these movies both of which I think will translate very well to the big screen.

The Help stars Sissy Spacek, Emma Stone and Bryce Dallas Howard while One Day stars Anne Hathaway and Jim Sturgess. Interesting cast choices for both. Are you looking forward to seeing these movies? Do you know other recent novels that will soon be made into films?

  1. I am looking forward to seeing Help also-the trailers show it has been well cast-I hope we do not have to wait a long time for it

  4. Yes I can't wait to see The Help. Don't know about One Day so that's one for me to look up. Did you see Water for Elephants. I thought that was a good adaptation and Robert Pattinson was very easy on the eye.

  5. I haven't read these yet. Maybe I should before watching the movies?

    Oh and...

A Visit From The Goon Squad, which I loved and devoured last Sunday has been bought by HBO. That sounds exciting.

  8. I adored "One Day" and am hoping against hope that the film will not ruin things. Interesting to see that they are using American Hathaway matched with UK Sturgess. In my head, the characters of the book are *very* English (I'm English as well), so wondering if this will all translate, so to speak. Also enjoyed reading "The Help" altho' doubt I will fork over the money to see it first-run at the cinema. (It's probably a rental.)

  9. I own a copy of each novel and have yet to read them...plan to do so before I need to return to the classroom. What that most likely means is that I won't see them on the big screen...more likely in my home:)
